Programming Intern

Summary of Position:

The Programming Intern(s) is a member of the Programming Team at the Denver Film Society. The primary responsibility of this position is to support efforts of the Programming Department specifically for film festivals and special events for the Denver Film Society. Entry-level non-paid internship, if applicable, can be used for college credit.

Principal Responsibilities:

Stanley Film Festival (March-May)

·         Assist with administrative duties for Stanley Film Festival

·         Manage Audience Award Ballots

·         Assist with Film Materials

·         Jury Coordinator for the Festival

·         Other related duties as assigned

CinemaQ Film Festival (June-July)

·         Assist with administrative duties for Stanley Film Festival

·         Manage Audience Award Ballots

·         Researching film titles/other festival programs

·         Assist with Film Materials

·         Other related duties as assigned 

Denver Film Festival (June-November)

·         Manage checking in of film submission

·         Researching film titles/other festival programs

·         Part of screening team for submitted films

·         Film data entry for Festival database

·         Other related duties as assigned

Ongoing

·         Assist with Specialty one-off screenings such as DocNight and Women+Film monthly screenings.

·         Picking up filmmakers from DIA for monthly screenings

·         Assist with Film On The Rocks summer program

Qualifications and Skills:

Volunteer Department Internship

Internship Opportunity:  Volunteer Department Intern

Summary of Position:

The Festival Volunteer Department Intern will work with the Volunteer Manager and other festival staff to manage the participation of festival volunteers and other guests. The Volunteer Department intern will interface with Festival volunteers to insure proper staffing and participation in the 2015 Stanley Film Festival (SFF). 

Reports to:

SFF Volunteer & Guest Relations Manager, and will work with the Festival Director, Operations Director, Marketing & PR Manager, and Ticketing Manager to further insure quality experience for visiting guests.

Principal Responsibilities:

Pre-Festival (March 30 - April 29)

-      Learn functions and become proficient in use of volunteer database management system; Shiftboard.

-      Manage daily inquires via DFS volunteer email (remote access available).

-      Draft communications for volunteer recruitment and management publications

-      Lead volunteer recruitment campaign

-      Assist in preparation of volunteer guides for distribution during festival

-      Other related duties as assigned

Festival Onsite (April 30 - May 3)

-      Act as onsite SFF Volunteer Department liaison for all festival volunteers.

-      Manage Volunteer Desk at Stanley Hotel, help with Guest Relations at desk as needed.

-      Coordinate onsite distribution of volunteers to insure adequate coverage to all venues.

-      Other related duties as assigned

Production Internship

Internship Opportunity:  Production Intern

Summary of Position:

Can you build stuff?  Can fix stuff?  Can you build stuff, then break it and then build it all over again?  The Festival Production Intern will work with the Production & Installations Manager and other festival staff to provide operational support to deliver a memorable Stanley Film Festival experience to all of its patrons.

Reports to:

SFF Production & Installations Manager

Principal Responsibilities:

-      Assist Production & Installations Manager in a variety of SFF settings, including venue installation and setup, maintenance, and breakdown.

-      Equipment runs

-      Assist with setup and breakdown of all festival events as needed

-      Ensure the distribution of all goods, materials and equipment throughout the festival venues and offices.

 -    Maintain the integrity of all festival public and restricted areas, ensuring they remain presentable and highly functional at all times.

Qualifications and Skills:

-      Age 21 or over

-      Ability to lift 50+ lbs along with endurance and longevity through physically demanding projects.

-      Good with directions, ability to navigate and find locations quickly and easily.

-      Tech savvy

-      Comfortable speaking with other departments, hotel staff, and guests of all varieties.

-      Basic tool skills. Bring your leatherman. 

-      Reliable vehicle/transportation

Internship Opportunity:  Guest Relations Intern

Summary of Position:

The Festival Guest Relations Intern will work with the Guest Relations Manager and other festival staff to manage the participation of festival artists, visiting festival representatives, volunteers and other guests. The Guest Relations intern will interface with festival guests to insure proper and accurate participation in the 2015 Stanley Film Festival (SFF).

Reports to:

SFF Volunteer & Guest Relations Manager, and may work with the Festival Director, Programming Department, Operations Director, Marketing & PR Manager, and Ticketing Manager to further insure quality experience for visiting guests.

Principal Responsibilities:

Pre-Festival (March 30 - April 29)

-      Become familiar with SFF operational systems including guest relations process.

-      Research local Estes Park amenities, activities and accommodations.

-      Assist in preparation of guest info packets and gifts for distribution during festival

-      Co-manage Guest Relations Desk at Stanley Hotel, help with Volunteer Management at desk as needed.

-      Assist in managing guest accommodations during festival including transportation, hotel, meals/hospitality, festival screenings and other festival activities.

Year Round Denver Film Society
Development Intern

Summary of Position:

The Development Intern is a member of the Development Team at the Denver Film Society. The primary responsibility of this position is to support all efforts of the Development team in order to raise necessary funds for the Denver Film Society.

Reports to:

Advancement Director
Reporting to other team members will also be required – Director of Development, Corporate Sponsorship Manager, Development Coordinator

Principal Responsibilities:

Young Filmmakers Workshops (Mar-Aug)

·         Perform school visits – present to classrooms, network with teachers, and recruit students to enroll in the program

·         Work with the Program Assistant to process enrollment & scholarship applications

·         Create mailings and assist with other program marketing materials

·         Act as onsite DFS liaison for each two-week workshop, assisting instructors & students daily

·         Work with Program Assistant to capture photos & create progress reports

·         Assist with student & parent surveys following each workshop

·         Help at open houses and student film premieres by facilitating food & beverages and other special events needs

·         Other related duties as assigned 

Reel Social Club (Year-round)

·         Attend planning meetings, take minutes and distribute to oversight committee

·         Draft e-blasts and other communications to members

·         Assist onsite for associated events

·         Assist with new membership drives and membership renewals as needed

·         Help to coordinate key annual events, including Summer Scream at Lakeside
