On the sidewalk outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, a young woman awakens to find herself lying in the footprints of the Hollywood stars on the Walk of Fame. She has no idea who she is, never mind how she got there or what’s happening. Is this a dream? Is it an alternate reality? Does it matter? With only a few trivial details about her identity at her fingertips, she’s trying to discern the purpose of her journey when a mysterious stranger takes her in tow – one who seems to know much more about her than she does and to care deeply about her circumstances. Through him, she discovers her life is on the line, but it will take an entire day to determine the nature of the danger and the decision she must make to avert it.

Hollywood landmarks naturally assume the dimensions of characters in this metacinematic drama from writer-director Steven Peros, who smartly explores the power of narrative and its place in our lives – much as he did as author of the critically acclaimed The Cat’s Meow, the film version of which was directed by Peter Bogdanovich. Footprints is further enriched with appearances by Pippa Scott and H. M. Wynant, one-time fixtures both on the silver screen and in the golden age of television.
