Polish director Bodo Kox has created a wonderfully unique story about two brothers who welcome a mysterious woman into their lives. If the film was made by an American director, Jim Jarmusch would come to mind—it’s delightfully quirky.

Jacek (Piotr Glowacki) takes care of his challenged brother, Tomek (Wojciech Mecwaldowski). When the rude neighbor who usually watches Tomek balks, Jacek tries next-door neighbor Magda (Magdalena Rozanska, in her film debut), a mysterious woman who recently tried to kill herself with oven gas. Tomek strikes up an unlikely friendship with the beautiful yet neurotic Magda, who spends most of her alone time hanging out in her wardrobe cabinet. Magda, a sort of visual cross between Mia Farrow and Isabelle Huppert, gets high on grass, pops pills, and hallucinates—pretty much all the time. It seems the only person that matters to her is the often silent and unpredictable Tomek, and he seems to reciprocate and connect with her, as well. But it’s apparent that there’s something deeper going on with Tomek that will ultimately test the resolve of the trio.
