Truck driving is all 60-year-old widower Germain (Julien Poulin) has ever known. When he is involved in a head-on collision that leaves a woman dead, his quiet life is thrown into a tailspin. Even though the accident was not his fault, the remorse he experiences is debilitating, leaving him severely depressed. Deeply concerned for his father, Germain’s son Samuel puts his job in Montreal on hold and travels to New Brunswick to collect his estranged older brother, Alain. Together they drive to their rural Quebec hometown to care for their stricken father. The brothers, it turns out, have their own issues and carry heavy baggage from their past. The time together has unforeseen consequences for all involved. Director Rafaël Ouellet has crafted a poignant, tender, but unsentimental drama that features wonderfully realistic performances against a striking rural Canadian backdrop. The melancholy score by Viviane Audet and Robin-Joel Cool delicately sets the mood without intruding on Ouellet’s spare, elegant treatment. - RON HENDERSON Click here for Information on Group Rates Sponsored by:
