Middle-aged single mother Martine is a successful doctor who treats and counsels many immigrant patients. Over the years she has developed a strong respect for their diverse religious and cultural beliefs. A contemporary woman of liberal convictions, she champions emancipation, of women and immigrants. But her self-determination and worldview are challenged when her young daughter decides to become a Muslim. Will Martine be able to stay faithful to her convictions when her daughter chooses her own way? Elsie de Brauw delivers a tour-de-force performance.
