Father Adam (Andrzej Chyra) is transferred to a rural village where he’ll preside over the church and operate a center for a group of tough youths with his coworker Michal (Lukasz Simlat). Michal’s lonely and attractive wife, Ewa (Maja Ostaszewska), comes on to Adam, but he rebuffs her because he is a man of cloth. At least that’s one reason.

At first, Adam’s influence is well-received; the boys develop a rapport with him and the locals seem at ease with his laid-back demeanor. To the townsfolk, Adam is not a typical priest. He likes to drink, hang out with the group, and be a regular Joe. But he’s also wrestling with his carnal desires, while trying to help at-risk teenage boys in the Polish countryside. Quiet yet troubled Lukasz (Mateusz Kosciukiewicz) has caught Adam’s eye.

Events start taking a dark turn after the suicide of a boy at the camp. Skeletons start falling out of the closet, as does Adam’s sexuality. Polish screenwriter, producer, and director Malgorzata Szumowska has tenderly directed a portrayal of a man of faith who does not fit the mold.
