Film/STILL presents Cave of Forgotten Dreams, directed by Werner Horzog and screened in conjunction with the special exhibition Memory, Myth & Magic. The film provides unparalled glimpses of some of the oldest art known to man and offers unexpected connections to the work of the abstract expressionists, many of whom were concerned with the primitive, enigmatic symbology of the cave painters. Clyfford Still in particular possessed a brooding mysticism, and his visual expression shows uncanny parallels to the imagery presented in the film. Barlow will explore the relationship between film, photography, painting, and animation.
