Writer/director Terry George's (Hotel Rwanda) compelling thriller follows two families as their lives unexpectedly converge. On a warm September evening, Ethan Learner (Joaquin Phoenix) and his wife Grace (Jennifer Connelly) are attending a music recital by their 10-year-old son. On the way home they stop at a gas station on Reservation Road. There, in one terrible instant, their son is taken from them forever. Dwight Arno (Mark Ruffalo) and his 11-year-old son are attending a baseball game. Driving his son back to his ex-wife (Mira Sorvino), Dwight heads toward his fateful encounter at Reservation Road. Haunted by the tragedy, both fathers react in unexpected ways, and as a reckoning looms, the two men are forced to make the hardest choices of their lives. Based on the novel by John Burnham Schwartz.
