A story about street performers. A middle-aged musician (Charles Laughton) discovers the musical talent of Libby (Vivien Leigh), a young woman pickpocket. Complications of unrequited love follow, and Leigh eventually meets up with a big-time promoter (Rex Harrison). Tyrone Guthrie appears in a smallish role.
