10th Anniversary 35mm presentation! - Released in 2001 to cash in on the comic-to-screen blockbusters of the time (ie: Scooby Doo, et al) Josie And The Pussycats was sold to the teenage population as a cool and hip update to one of their parent’s favorite shows…and the teens ignored it. But unbeknownst to them the film was actually a cinematic Trojan horse designed by co-directors/writers Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan as a smart, scathing satire on consumerism, pop music and comic-to-screen films. Perhaps too much at the time but perfect to examine and celebrate 10 years later. Featuring an all star cast: Parkey Posey, Alan Cumming, Rachel Leigh Cook, Rosario Dawson, Tara Reid and…Carson Daly.
