Young Filmmakers Workshop Introductory Class

480 Minute Running Time

The Introductory Workshop is a two-week filmmaking program for aspiring filmmakers as well as students with strong interest in the art of filmmaking. Led by Denver professional Scott Kinnamon, students will learn and put to immediate use skills in film pre-production, scriptwriting, cinematography, and editing. All participants also help to produce a final project – a completed short film! The camp will culminate with a special end of session screening and celebration for filmmakers, friends, and family at the Denver FilmCenter/Colfax.

When: June 27 – July 9*
Who: 12-19 year olds
Where: Denver Open Media, 700 Kalamanth St., Denver, CO

Week One
• Introduction to cinema and narrative
• Building stories and script-writing
• The basics of how to operate a camera, work with light, observe the world, and organize material

Week Two
• Two days of shooting
• Theory and practice of film editing
• Scoring music
• Public premiere at the Denver Film Society!
