Digital presentation - Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and count down from ten. You are about to go beyond the black rainbow.

Panos Cosmatos’ moody sci-fi head trip is set within the confines of a stark and sterile laboratory circa 1983, where Dr. Barry Nyle is conducting tests on a young subject, a quiet and stunned girl named Elena. This human guinea pig is becoming aware of a power hidden deep inside of her—but is it her secret, or the work of Dr. Nyle? Is the good doctor the key to Elena’s salvation or the cause of her wild visions, fuzzy recollections of a world that seems to coalesce and disintegrate around her with violent intensity?

Kubrick and Tarkovsky are clear influences on Cosmatos’ overall vision, but the bold style he employs here is ultimately his own. The brilliant soundscape, however, was created by Black Mountain’s Jeremy Schmidt, who used vintage analog synthesizers to seal the time capsule. Beyond the Black Rainbow dares you to tune in, turn on, and see what’s waiting for you on the other side.
