Digital Presentation - Mathieu Amalric (star of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and A Christmas Tale) won Best Director at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival for this bittersweet, burlesque-filled portrait—inspired by a memoir by Colette—of life at the fringes of the entertainment world. Part road movie, part love letter to a titillating art, Tournée concerns former Parisian TV producer Joachim (Amalric), who, following a stint in America, returns to France with a “new burlesque” troupe after promising them fame in Paris. Portrayed by real-life burlesque dancers, the troupe travels from glitzy venue to glitzy venue, dingy hotel to dingy hotel, flirting with success and the good life before old conflicts resurface and threaten their moment in lights. Set to a raucous soundtrack that features Screamin’ Jay Hawkins.
