You may not have heard of Butch Walker, but you have probably heard Walker's work, whether his own music or one of his collaborations with artists like Train, Weezer, Fall Out Boy, and Pink. He is a foundational force in the music industry, as both producer and songwriter. We are introduced to Walker, the musician, a performer for over 20 years who has never stopped playing his own music and has a group of loyal fans who have known him for just as long.
Out of Focus goes beyond highlighting Walker’s persona as a behind-the-scenes musician. The man who plays tightly written rock songs influenced by his Southern roots and anecdotal instincts is also a loving son and father. His struggles are revealed in his relationship with an ailing father and in his own journey in parenthood as he attempts to raise a four-year-old son from the road and at home.
Filmmakers Peter Harding and Shane Valdés have crafted a moving documentary about one man’s pursuit of both the love of his family and great music.
