With his long face, long legs and earnest eyes, the great French comic Jacques Tati simply undoes the social and technological pretentions of his sister and her pompous husband. Uncle lives in an old house in town, but his sharp-eyed young nephew is stuck in an ultra-modern, over-automated suburban development, which to the mind of writer/director/actor Tati is ripe for the picking. If you want to understand the word droll, this is droll.

DIRECTOR: Jacques Tati
