VOICES: Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves Shorts Program

78 Minute Running Time

Q&A with filmmaker Suzanne Heintz
Women have always had to blaze their own trails. With each film we experience a woman faced with obstacles, both external and internal, and see how they rise to the occasion. An animated Miss Todd dreams of flying at a time when opportunities for women didn’t even exist on the ground; two sisters chase their passion while challenged with an extreme environment in the documentary Baking Alaska; and in Playing House subject and director, Suzanne Heintz, confronts societal pressure on women of a “certain age” to be paired up and have a family by creating her own family scrapbook of self portraits that document her “mannequin” family travels.
