Women+Film: The Quilted Conscience
2013, 60 Minute Running Time
Thursday August 21st, 7:00pm. Director John Sorensen in-person. Post-film reception to follow in Henderson's Lounge.
The story of sixteen Sudanese girls who come with their families to a small Nebraska town, far from the trauma of their war-weary homeland, is shown in The Quilted Conscience, an uplifting film about finding a new life through art. The film documents the girls' journey as new Americans through their participation in an arts project with a local quilters guild, guided by noted African American quilt-maker, Peggie Hartwell. The Quilted Conscience is a fund under the Grand Island Community Foundation.
