Location: Sie FilmCenter – 2510 E. Colfax Ave., Denver, CO 80206, and occasional remote work

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Chief Marketing Officer

Currently, Denver Film requires all staff be vaccinated for COVID-19 and is also requiring everyone in its building(s) to wear masks. “Vaccinated” means fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as defined by the CDC (i.e., more than 14 calendar days following receipt of a final dose of an FDA or World Health Organization authorized or approved vaccine). Denver Film is seeking a Copywriter for the 44th Denver Film Festival (DFF44) (November 3 – 14, 2021) with proven writing capabilities and a demonstrated ability to maintain brand communications across multimedia platforms. This position will play a key role in preparation for  DFF44. This person will work ~15 hours per week leading up to the festival (Late September – November 2, 2021) with full-time extended hours during the festival (November 3 – 14, 2021). Must submit a portfolio of work to be considered.

About Denver Film:

The first Denver International Film Festival was successfully launched in May 1978. Three years later, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Denver Film Society was created to expand opportunities to bring films to Denver that otherwise might not be shown, and to celebrate and cultivate film as an art form. Over the years the organization has grown into one the largest and most respected cultural institutions in the Rocky Mountain region. In 2019, the organization rebranded to Denver Film in an effort to build a more inclusive organization. What You’ll Do:

This is an entry-level position that reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and works closely with the Brand Manager and Marketing Manager.


Work with Programming to create and edit movie descriptions

Create copy for printed + digital festival guide (event descriptions, way-finding, program descriptions, etc.)

Work with Membership to create copy for membership drive pre-festival

Create copy for marketing communications leading up to the festival and during the festival (email marketing, social media, advertising, etc.)

Create copy for way-finding signage that will be used during the festival

Complete a wrap report post-festival


Work to support the festival overall and the needs of all departments where applicable

Ensure that Denver Film’s high festival standards are met before, during, and after the festival

Attend in-person staff meetings when appropriate

Attend virtual team meetings

Assist with content management during the festival

Who You Are:

The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator who is highly organized and enjoys thinking creatively. This individual will have experience with writing copy for customer-facing B2B businesses, working on marketing materials, and writing copy for print and digital advertising. This detail-oriented professional should have strong computer skills and reliable transportation during the festival. They will collaborate with the entire marketing team and also be expected to work independently, take direction, remain flexible, and have the ability to perform under the pressure of multiple time-sensitive tasks.
