Starz Denver Film Festival 2007

Denver, CO – The Denver Film Society (DFS) and the Starz Denver Film Festival celebrate 30 years of film festival excellence with Take 30: The First Three Decades of the Denver International Film Festival. This 192-page commemorative coffee-table sized book will be available for purchase on November 1. Online pre-sale orders begin today, Friday, October 12, at

Take 30 features hundreds of captivating black-and-white photographs by Denver photographer Larry Laszlo. Narrative text by festival co-founder Ron Henderson and award-winning author and 30-year festival veteran Joey Porcelli, as well as memories and recollections by festival staff, volunteers, board members and guest filmmakers, accompany the photographs. Denver artist Judy Anderson designed the book to complement the 30-year photographic journey.

“The memorable faces of Hollywood legends and acclaimed international film artists, the colorful festival parties, the dedicated staff and volunteers, the supportive politicians, the ever-shifting festival venues and the ever-changing hairdos are all captured by one photographer who was there from the beginning,” said Henderson, festival co-founder and artistic director. “The glorious imagery of Take 30 exhibits Larry Laszlo’s immense contribution to the documentation of one of Denver’s most beloved cultural events.”

Take 30 will be unveiled on November 1, in conjunction with the opening of an exhibition of Laszlo’s photos, all to take place at Gallery 30, located in the Starz FilmCenter at the Tivoli (900 Auraria Parkway). The book signing and exhibit will be open to the general public from 6pm-9pm and the exhibit, sponsored by Wheeler Trigg Kennedy LLP, will continue throughout the festival (November 8-18). Hard cover and soft cover copies of the book will be available for $39.95 and $24.95 respectively and can be purchased online at or in person at the book signing event and at merchandise booths during the festival.

All regular screenings will take place at the Denver Film Society's permanent home, the Starz FilmCenter at the Tivoli on the Auraria Campus. Opening Night, Big Night and Closing Night events will take place at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, located in the Denver Performing Arts Complex.
