Starz Denver Film Festival 2007

Denver, CO – The 30th Starz Denver Film Festival (SDFF) announces its Red Carpet Screenings and events. All red carpet screenings will take place at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House at the Denver Performing Arts Complex.

Director Tamara Jenkins’ THE SAVAGES will open this year’s SDFF. This smartly crafted film from the director of the indie-hit THE SLUMS OF BEVERLY HILLS stars two of contemporary cinema's brightest lights - Laura Linney and Phillip Seymour Hoffman - as middle-aged, middle-class, moderately self-absorbed siblings reuniting to care for a father who is slipping into dementia. The Opening Night After Party at the Seawell Ballroom will follow the film and include food, drinks and plenty of dancing.

This year’s Big Night will feature JUNO, a new comedy from director Jason Reitman and starring Ellen Page, Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman. Crackling with whip-smart dialogue and intensely clever monologue, Reitman's follow-up to THANK YOU FOR SMOKING finds 16-year-old Juno pregnant by her clueless best friend, high-school track star Paulie. Big Night begins with the annual fundraising Gala Dinner. Red carpet arrivals featuring a special “team” of guests will precede the premiere and a Big Night Dessert Reception will take place at the Ellie following the screening.

This year’s festival will close with the star-studded AUGUST RUSH, starring Keri Russell, Freddie Highmore, Terrence Howard, Robin Williams, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. This new drama from director Kirsten Sheridan tells the story of an orphaned musical prodigy who uses his newfound talent as a clue to finding his birth parents. Closing Night will take place on November 17. Following the film, The Last Reel After Party at the EXDO Event Center will close out the 11-day festival.
