Denver Film Festival Production Coordinator


Classification: Full-Time Seasonal (Full-time: Early September – Mid November (through festival conclusion and wrap-up)

Salary Range: $5,000 – $5,500

Location: Sie FilmCenter – 2510 E. Colfax Ave., Denver, CO 80206 and on location as needed

Reporting Structure: Reports to Denver Film Festival Producer


Position Summary: 

Denver Film seeks a Production Coordinator to assist in management of operations across the Denver Film Festival (DFF), the largest premier film event in the Rocky Mountain region that happens across multiple venues over 10 days filled with films, red carpet events, panels, and special events. The Production Coordinator works closely with departments across the festival and is a critical team member in ensuring the various event components are executed successfully.


About Denver Film:

The first Denver International Film Festival was successfully launched in May 1978. Three years later, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Denver Film Society was created to expand opportunities to bring films to Denver that otherwise might not be shown, and to celebrate and cultivate film as an art form. Over the years the organization has grown into one the largest and most respected cultural institutions in the Rocky Mountain region. In 2019, the organization rebranded to Denver Film to build a more inclusive organization. This effort continues as we focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility across our wide array of year-round programs including Colorado Dragon Boat Film Festival, Women+Film Festival, CinemaQ Film Festival, CineLatinx Film Festival, Film on the Rocks, the Denver Film Festival, and other programming. What You’ll Do:

The Production Coordinator plays an important role in coordinating load-in, set-up, and strike, as well as supply deliveries at Festival venues. This individual will work closely with the DFF Producer to execute various activities of the Festival. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Production Coordination

  • • Review past systems and envision how to build upon past success in conjunction with the DFF Producer and departments to include Tech, Ticketing, Special Events, and Theater Operations
  • • Coordinate with all venues to advance the needs of the Festival and build and maintain critical relationships
  • • Source and work with suppliers to procure needed items
  • • Assist in overseeing the Production team
  • • Ensure all data and materials are dispositioned post-event
  • • Write and deliver a comprehensive wrap report following the conclusion of the Festival

Coordination

  • • Work cooperatively with all appropriate DFF departments including, but not limited to, Programming, Tech, Ticketing, Theater Operations, Marketing to ensure the lines of communication are open, needs are clear, and plans are set

Budget Management

  • • Assist with management of the Production budget and work within it
  • • Track all expenses with accuracy

General

  • • Work to support the Festival overall and the needs of all departments
  • • Ensure that Denver Film’s high Festival standards and the expectations of guests are met before, during, and after the festival
  • • Provide exceptional customer service

Special Requirements:

  • • Valid driver’s license and reliable access to transportation
  • • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • • Able to climb up and down stairs; able to climb up and down ladders; able to kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and carry; able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs., including up and down stairs

The ideal candidate will be a skilled problem-solver with previous festival production/operations experience and exemplary communication, management, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to delegate tasks and ensure follow-through are important assets for this position. The Production Coordinator should be a self-starter and a team player, with the ability to maintain poise in stressful and dynamic situations.
