Making Tracks

_

Tracks is a legendary gay nightclub known countrywide. Little do people know, this LGBTQ+ safe-haven was founded by a straight, conservative businessman, Marty Chernoff, who stumbled into owning it. Inspired by true events in 1980s Denver, Making Tracks is a coming-of-age drama that follows Marty and a young, recently outed gay teen who ran away from home as they journey through identity, love, and belonging.

ABOUT | Based on a true story, Making Tracks is an unabashedly honest, entertaining, feel-good tale about learning to love yourself, maintaining hope, and exploring the 80s era for LGBTQ+ characters. Today, equality for the LGBTQ+ community remains relevant as the film boldly addresses a history that continues to be underrepresented in the media.

Shawna’s (Director) vision is to tell a story that effortlessly blends humor, nostalgia, and drama, immersing audiences in the characters’ lives. Through their eyes, these issues go from the rational, reasonable, and intellectual space to the visceral, gut, and emotional levels. Tracks became iconic because it transcended beyond being just a club, evolving into a place where the LGBTQ+ community felt safe to let their light shine, inspiring others seeking to live their truth.

In the words of the founder of Tracks, Marty Chernoff, the unlikely ally to Denver’s gay community, “You’ve got to let people live their own lives as they want to live them, and…and I will fight for that right.”

The role of allyship in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights resonates with many, fueling this intriguing story waiting to be told.
