THE GREAT DIVIDE is a female-driven western about one woman’s unorthodox journey to rediscover her identity after trauma, and the women she meets along the way whose individual challenges and tragedies, when put together, create a scrapbook of female resilience as it was forged by hostile conditions of the times. Darker than your typical western, our characters stake claim to an 1879 Colorado frontier world where both prospect and lawlessness are abundant, and the line between good and evil is tenuous. Women are unrestrained by their male counterparts, even in a time and place that doesn’t value their independence, which makes THE GREAT DIVIDE a true feminist western. An award-winning screenplay: Top 20 – 2018/2019 Coverfly Red List Western; Winner – 2018 Toronto Lift Off Film Festival; Quarterfinalist – Screencraft Orb Media China-Hollywood Screenwriting Fellowship
From the Creator, Lindsay Sparks:
“This production is personal to me because our heroine’s story is a reflection of my own survival after suffering a traumatic brain injury, and the scope of the production is a testament to everything I’ve overcome.”
Historically, women’s voices are underrepresented. In 2018, women comprised 15% of writers, 18% of executive producers, 18% of producers, and 14% of editors. Our goal is to promote equity and give audiences the perspective they want and deserve with a diverse cast and majority female crew. We are creating countless opportunities, proudly supported by the Denver Film Society, the Colorado Film Office, and passionate donors who share our dedication to diversity in creativity.
Joining THE GREAT DIVIDE is award-winning director Rebekah Wiggins (Today – 2017 Los Angeles Femme International Film Festival, Iris – 2018 Madrid International Film Festival) whose background as an actor and acting coach makes her an exceptionally nurturing and supportive director, and Corey Weintraub (The Avengers, Ridiculous 6, SGT. Will Garner) who has over 20 years experience and a reel topping 100 films and television shows.
