As of March 2025, Jeanette Vizguerra—after years of tireless activism and two stints in sanctuary—has been detained by ICE. Her story continues to be followed by press and immigrant rights advocates, but access to her has become severely limited since her detainment. MUJER SANTUARIO is one of the only projects with years of trusted access to her life before this moment—and the rare ability to carry her story forward.
Jeanette’s story has taken on a new urgency. What began as a portrait of resistance has become a record of what’s at stake when the system silences those who dare to speak out. Our team has captured over four years of verité footage, including Jeanette’s organizing work, legal battles, moments of solitude, and the painful lead-up to her recent detention. The film is now in post-production and poised for completion for a Sundance 2026 submission
With your support, we will ensure this story reaches festivals, broadcasters, and the communities most affected by immigration policy. Jeanette’s voice has not gone silent—and with your help, neither will her story.
