THE STARZ DENVER FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES TICKET PACKAGES AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
2008 Starz Denver Film Festival

DENVER -- Sept. 22, 2008 -- The Denver Film Society's (DFS) 31st Starz Denver Film Festival (SDFF), to be held Nov. 13-23, will feature nearly 175 films representing the work of filmmakers from all corners of the globe. More than 150 film artists will be in attendance to introduce their works to enthusiastic Festival audiences.
"The films we are looking at for the 31st Starz Denver Film Festival represent the best and brightest that independent and world cinema have to offer," said Britta Erickson, SDFF director. "The combination of outstanding films and high profile special events is a hallmark of what has become one of the nation's best and most respected regional Film Festivals."
The Festival will spotlight industry leaders participating in panels and seminars covering diverse cinematic topics. Red carpet and other special events round out the 11-day Festival.
Industry juries will select the Krzysztof Kieslowski Award for Best Feature Film, the Maysles Brothers Award for Best Documentary, the Emerging Filmmaker Award and the Spike Lee Student Filmmaker Award.
SDFF ticket packages, which include special prices to various events and screenings, are available now for purchase by the general public at www.denverfilm.org. Additional ticket packages will be announced in the coming weeks. DFS Members can purchase single screening and event tickets beginning Oct. 29. Single tickets will be available for purchase by the general public starting Oct. 31.

Throughout the 11 days of SDFF, there are more than 400 volunteer opportunities available, giving people the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of exciting and fun activities, as well as seeing what happens behind the scenes at one of the world's premiere film festivals. People interested in volunteering must attend one orientation meeting, which will be held at the Starz FilmCenter six times before the start of the Festival. 2008 SDFF DETAILS
All regular screenings will take place at the Starz FilmCenter at the Tivoli on the Auraria Campus, the home for the Denver Film Society. Opening Night (Nov. 13) and Big Night (Nov. 15) events will take place at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House and Closing Night (Nov. 22) will be held at the Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre. Both venues are located in the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Special screenings will be shown in the King Academic and Performing Arts Center on the Auraria Campus.
The 2007 Festival marked the 30th anniversary of the SDFF. There were 45,136 attendees, a 16 percent increase from the 2006 Festival, and more than 125 sold out screenings.

TRAVEL "GREEN" TO SDFF
The Starz FilmCenter is RTD-accessible. Bus routes 2, 12 and 15 all stop at the Tivoli; Light Rail lines C and E make nearby stops at Union Station, Pepsi Center/Six Flags Elitch Gardens, Invesco Field and Auraria West Campus, while lines D, F and H stop at Colfax at Auraria. Light Rail to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House: take the D, F or H lines and exit at the Convention Center/Performing Arts station. Patrons boarding the existing C line or the new E line should transfer to the D, F, or H lines at the I-25 & Broadway station. Upon exiting the train, walk to 14th Street and continue northwest toward Curtis Street to the Denver Performing Arts Complex.
